My godson Wendell Campbell IV is an exceptional young man. Since the moment he could talk and move, he took it upon himself to take care of our daughter, even as she claimed to be the older one. While he cannot remember everything he did to make our daughter's life more well-rounded and joyful, I only have memories of love and support. I used to say to my daughter — and I guess I still do — that it only takes one friend to change your life. I will add to that for persons on the spectrum: anyone who is willing to be a part of our village vastly improves our families, and certainly our loved one on the spectrum.
